Course Overview:
Session 1) Introduction to Tajwīd:
- Importance
- Literal meaning
- Technical definition
- Ruling of Tajwīd
- Types of errors
- Taʿawwudh and Tasmiyah
Session 2) Makhārij + ṣifāt:
- The number of Arabic letters, names of the teeth and various parts of the mouth and points of articulation
- The contradictory and non-contradictory qualities, causes and effects and the combinations of their letters
Session 3) Pivotal rules, mudūd + waqf:
- Rules of nūn sākin and mīm sākin
- The various types of mudūd and their durations
- Where and when to stop and the concept of Saktah
Session 4) Perfecting the pronunciation of letters and Sūrah al-Fātiḥāh.
